Youth Program
The Frederick Chapter's Youth Program has participle in the Maryland Youth Hunter Education Challenge (MYHEC) competitions for 10 consecutive years. Each year the children and coaches have gained knowledge from the events and sharpened their hunting and safety skills.
The Junior 1 team competition and came in fifth place overall. The team members for Frederick J1 were Cody Fabiszak, Spencer Becker, Nathaniel Neuland, Gabrielle Freese and Matthew Bradfield. Members of Frederick J2 were Cameron Moneypenny, Josiah Freese, Devin Ramboz and Jamie Becker.Christopher Bradfield participated as an individual in the senior division. Josiah Freese placed first overall and Spencer Becker placed fifth in the wildlife identification challenge. Josiah also placed third on his hunter responsibility exam while his sister, Gabrielle Freese, placed fourth on the same exam.
Mr. Kelkye, who directs the Frederick YHEC program, also does muzzleloading instruction. Jack Deatherage does the archery; and Tom Wheatley is the orienteering guru.
Teams from Carroll, Howard, Prince George’s and Washington counties, and one representing both Garrett and Allegany 13-14 in Williamsport, MD at the Potomac Fish And Game.

Hunter Safety Courses at their Chapter house located at 4719 Reels Mill Road, Frederick, MD. The Youth Program sells refreshments during the courses to raise money for their activities.
