Range Safety Officer (RSO)
Range Safety Officer (RSO) is required to take and pass the NRA Range Safety Officer course and review Frederick Chapter range rules. The Chapter will offer this course when there are around 10 participants. Each participant will be required to purchase NRA training materials. In exchange for the privilege of opening the range during the week each range officer will have to perform scheduled range officer duties on weekends. The schedule will be determined when the exact number of range officers is known. Range officers will be required to keep their certification current with the NRA. At this time there is a $5.00 annual fee to renew certification.
A NRA certified range officer must be present at all times when the range is open.
Only certified range officers and their quests will be able to use the range on weekdays.
Chapter members who not NRA certified range officers will be limited to shooting on weekends during scheduled range hours and an RSO is present.
Chief range officer and training coordinator is Ben Kelkye, 301-473-7210 or email him at kelkye@aol.com
